  7. CodeNet-8300A EISA interface cards use the 33 MB bus transfer rate for maximum
  8. throughput in a fiber optic Ethernet network. The CodeNet 8300A achieve higher
  9. performance because of a design architecture that utilizes onboard Bus Master
  10. control of the 32-bit-wide EISA data path. The interface is easily installed in
  11. any full-length slot and connected to the Ethernet network via standard duplex
  12. fiber-optic cable

  14. CodeNet fiber-optic Ethernet is more robust and reliable than coax or
  15. twisted-pair solutions. It is completely immune to electromagnetic noise and no
  16. form of cable damage, like short circuits, ground faults, reflections, or
  17. impedance mismatches, can disable the network. It is impossible for a cable to
  18. cause a fire or explosion since there is no electrical current present, and it
  19. is virtually impossible for an unauthorized agent to tap into the cable without
  20. easy detection. Workstations can be up to 1600 meters apart using a low-cost
  21. CodeStar passive hub and CodeNet-8300A interfaces can be combined with other
  22. CodeNet fiber-optic components. CodeNet networks are easily extendable within a
  23. large building or between buildings throughout a campus

  26. the network has a long life expectancy. Newer, faster network standards, like
